NOTES: (Sp. Sound: isolated; Breeding Stat: territorial solitary; Sound Cat: ?developmental subsong; Gen Climate: cyclic wet-dry; Cover Den: thick) Warren Pulick Jr, our leader, was not sure of the identity - said birds behavior was not typical. This bird stayed down in the vegetation, did not sing from tops of bushes and in flight - song was week and often incomplete. The wind was VERY strong, 25mph in gusts, could this be a young male perhaps developmental subsong? Or, did the wind degrade the sound so that it sounded weak and hesitant? LNS note: HPF@180Hz when digitized. mf BNA: The recordist points out that this may be the subsong. This may be considered as a Whisper Song in the BNA. If not, then it is a Primary Song. CZ 25/05/2004. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Chaparral, Thicket/Brush.
