Observation details
Immature dark morph. Overall grayish. Yellow eye contrasted with dark lores and completely dark bill. Black legs. Larger than nearby snowy egrets but smaller than great blue herons and great egrets. Initially spotted in salt marsh off South Dike before Turtle Cove and eventually flew into East Pool with a group of other egrets and herons. Possibly the same bird that spent part of the summer/fall at Island Beach State Park in Ocean County? The strong NE winds could have driven it south along the coast. Poor digiscoped photos (driving wind and rain)
