Observation details
I spoke to a fellow birder who said he spotted the golden plover but it flew off towards the dike. I took my time walking along the water's edge from the boat launch to the beach, then on the path around the tower and along the bottom path of the dike. I bent down to pick up a rock and caught movement out of the corner of my eye and yep, there the bird was. I stood up slowly and the bird did not seem alarmed. I took a couple hundred pics. The bird did not walk towards the water rather it walked towards the macadam walkway. Only once did it poke in between the rocks, it rested several times. It only flew off after a person and her dogs came down the path, but it didn't fly far. It went to the top edge of the dike for about 5 minutes and then called/whistled and flew back towards the water. I did not pursue.
