Observation details

Spotted by Jim Shepherd. Photographed by Michele Reyes. 3rd report for Florida. VAFL was seen in nearby residential area. The area has almost no parking and residents are sensitive to visitors. If you try for this bird, park at Tuscawilla and walk the neighborhood. DO NOT TRESPASS. Please respect the homeowners. It was not seen Sept 14 while a small group of experienced birders scoured the area. Medium sized flycatcher. Dark back with slight rufous coloring on back thru tail, light edging on wings, chest light colored with variegated striping and yellowish wash from lower chest down, thick dark line thru eye with thick white eyebrow and white below the black, whitish under chin, bill is medium sized dark with light coloring on bottom, perched and feeding behavior and flight pattern match for flycatcher.
