Observation details
I saw the small grebe floating with just its head above the water. At first I thought it was a hooded merganser but I eliminated that based on the size of the bird and shape of the bill. It has a peak on its head just over the eye. I first observed this bird partially submerged around 11 o’clock. During my whole observation, that lasted at least 30 minutes, the bird never dove or raised out of the water more than just it’s neck and head. Have photos.
