Observation details

Dark birds with rounded head, pale breast, unique bill shape and short tails. In flight the outer part of the wings was darker than the inner part on top and underneath was the opposite, showing a pale silvery type color rather than white on the outer part of the wing. The flight pattern was a flap a few then glide fairly low over the water as they moved around in the large flock of birds.
