Media notes
This is a recording of the fishing behavoir of the DCCO. It was an incoming tide with a fast moving current, 1 ft every 15 min, and when fishing (alone, in small groups, or all 17 of them) would sit on the surface and flap their wings while sticking their neck forward and then putting their head under thhe surface. This is a combined file, the first at 1245pm and the 2nd at 139pm. (There is only one vocalization by DCCO at the very end of the recordings -- It was sunny and 80 degree F (and cicadas can be heard in the first file. The location is a rock in Whiting Bay just off tent site 59, and/or in the water just off the rock, was the frequent gathering place of Double-Crested Cormorants, Herring Gulls.
