Observation details
The bird was found recently dead on the beach at Tucker's Town by Judie Clee. Measurements were taken by Steve Rodwell. It didn't appear to be either South Polar or Great Skua which are both recorded in Bermuda. Feather samples were sent to Dr Steve Votier at Glasgow University and identified as a Brown Skua in 2004 following DNA analysis. Although found dead, the good condition of the bird suggests it either died on the beach or in close proximity to Bermuda. All photos taken by Andrew Dobson.
