Observation details
First reported as a Long-billed until I studied my pictures. I noticed the general orange/rufous hue. Note tertials above the tail with rufous edges, spotting on the neck as opposed to streaking for Long-billed, rufous edges on scapulars lacking the white fringes, tail barring showing wider white bars as wide as black bars, and bill seemed a bit shorter for a Dowitcher, with slight droop at the end. This is the time of year for past Short-billed sightings in the area. As I was not certain, I sent pictures to Michael Woodruff for confirmation. Seen on the spit at the Saltese Church Pond.
