Observation details
Continuing bird. Though reported a week ago, I was informed by a local that the bird actually showed up at least 2 weeks ago, and possibly longer. Bird was found on arrival on a dead, fallen tree that hangs about 30 feet over the Frederick shoreline, roughly 75 yards north of the bridge. The bird preened for a time and then dropped down to feed in the river along the Frederick shoreline. After 2 hours of feeding, the bird flew straight back up to the overhanging tree to preen a bit before napping. During the entire period, the bird never ventured anywhere near the boundary with Carroll County. Photos and video obtained.
