Observation details
*Rare. Two birds five minutes apart in a relatively dense band of feeding storm-petrels. Classic sea kangaroo storm petrels, medium gray above, white face with dark mask around the eye, white underparts, noticeably larger than the surrounding Wilson’s Storm-Petrels they were feeding with. Second one was at 39.9671492, -70.6069824, 330 m of water, SST 28C. First one was just a couple of minutes prior, in the same patch of birds, so roughly the same conditions but very slightly to the south of these coordinates. Photos of the first individual.
