Media notes
NOTES: Range status: CAPTIVITY; Breeding status: TERRITORIAL PAIRED; SOUNDS MADE PRIMARILY BY MATURE BREEDING PAIRS OF B.C. LEUCOPAREIA ABOUT 2 MONTHS BEYOND THE END OF THEIR BREEDING SEASON. EXCEPT FOR BEING SOMEWHAT LESS AGGRESSIVE AT THIS TIME, THE CALLS ARE VERY SIMILAR TO THOSE MADE BY CAPTIVE BREEDERS DEFENDING THE NEST. ADULT(S); MALE(S); FEMALE(S). CONSIDERABLE SERPENTINE NECK MOVEMENTS, OPENING OF BILL, AND OTHER THREAT ATTITUDES ACCOMPANIED THE VOCALIZATIONS. BIRDS RESPONDED WITH MUCH INTEREST AND WITH CALLS TO PLAYBACK. ML: Subject changed from Branta canadensis to B. hutchinsii leucopareia based on the recordists' notes and current taxonomy. -Matt Medler, 28 Oct 2013. Other Behaviors: Perform Visual Display.
