One of three black terns at Walden Reservoir, Jackson County, Colorado, 15 September 2016
Observation details
Three foraging low over water in south-central portion of reservoir. Small terns with pointed wings, darkish ashy-gray overall with light underneath. Four common nighthawks foraging with them. Photos show dark 'spur' on side of breast in front of wing and short tail. I had a single black tern yesterday at MacFarlane Reservoir in southern Jackson County.
