The nearby chipping throughout the recording is a pair of Savannah Sparrows.
Observation details
Insect like song with 2 or 3 intoductory tinkling notes followed by a monotone buzz thinner than the buzz of a Savannah or Clay Colored Sparrow. There are no notes after the buzz. The bird has a hunched posture and a heavy bluish gray bill and a short tail. The underside is an unmarked gray with a little buffier wash to the breast and flanks. It has a dark crown with a light median stripe. The face has a buffy wedge around the eye and has a tinge of yellow toward the bill though it lacks a prominent yellow spot above the bill. The back is dark gray brown overall. The feathers on the coverts are margined in white. The habitat is tall forage grass on a beef farm.
