Observation details
Lone Merganser swam by me, entrance of Hog Island Gut, and headed a short distance to the point across from Bird Island. I paddled back just to get a few photos and noticed that it was hanging its right wing pretty low. It then proceeded to stretch out and flap its wings since it had just emerged from the water. Pictures show a rather damaged wing overall. Not sure if this is from something like an Eagle attack or some type of other health issue. Otherwise, it looked and behaved normally. For the recording, the "dog barking"/grunting is the Merganser vocalizing
