Two male Mallards are first heard on this tape, indicating pre-copulatory interest. Then there is a blank space on the tape. Next, one male mounts the female while the other male helps hold her neck down, all while the female squawks in the typical Mallard copulatory vocalization. Mallards in this area have been copulating since early April. Some hens are still on eggs, while several broods have hatched. General climate: Dry Cove density: Open. Habitat: Grassy riverbank lawn. Other Behaviors: Copulate, Perform Visual Display. Habitat: River. Elevation: 273 m.
