Observation details
Photos taken. In May 2020, a friend who lives adjacent to the Fay Smith/Victory Street wetlands, asked me to identify a bird she had recorded late at night - it turned out to be a Barking Owls. She said they kept making a heck of a racket for months (mating season). We had visited the wetlands every Saturday night for months that year trying for photographs of this species for eBird - to add to the Maryborough area photographs in the Illustrated Checklist, with no success. We've been doing that again for the last few months this year - out at all hours in the night and early morning. Now, we don't have to - as we can load them up for the Maryborough area, without staying out past bedtime. To date - Maryborough area had no photos uploaded, but several times the species has been heard. (NOTE: Greg Roberts has previously submitted some for Petrie Park, Tiaro). Wonderful to see them in daylight.
