distress call of individual day-roosting beside walking path, made at close approach by recordist; somewhat reminiscent of prolonged cluck of domesticated chicken; call made nasally, i.e., with beak closed; certain groups of stone-curlews, for some reason, prefer to roost during the day right next to paths that have a relatively high level of foot traffic by student, staff, and visitors to the campus
