Hammond's Flycatcher at Bates Canyon Campground, Santa Barbara County, CA
Observation details
Silent. Exhibited typical Hammond's Flycatcher characteristics- thin bill with dark lower mandible, long primaries and short-tailed appearance, thin eye ring. Kinglet-like head shape. Observed it foraging in the upper branches of an oak. Noted the long primaries making the tail look short, dark lower mandible, white eye ring and whitish-gray throat. i initially thought it was a kinglet until I saw it flycatching. Photographed:
