Observation details
2 adults and 2+ young calling from inside the nest; adults seen entering and exiting nest hole 4 m up in 40 cm diameter Trembling Aspen (see photos); seen carrying fecal sacs out of nest hole; this nest hole has an interesting history: it was excavated by a pair Red-naped Sapsuckers who used it as a nest hole that year; for two subsequent years it was used as a nesting hole for Tree Swallows, followed by two years of use by Red-shafted Flickers (this is the second year for the flickers)
