Observation details
Quite amazed to watch this American Oystercatcher form frazari come flying in over the ocean to the point from the north. It made a bee-line right at me landing on the rocks among California Sea Lions. Black head, brownish back, white underparts. This individual scores high on the Jehl scale, about a 33 and appears fairly typical of the frazari form individuals found along the Pacific coast of Baja. It has a slight mottling at the sides of the black bib which is quite clean cut at the upper breast. Underparts completely white except for a few black feathers on the underwing marginal coverts. Uppertail coverts mottled black-and-white.
