Observation details
Continuing. Heard (recorded) and seen just south of MP 5.1, high in cottonwoods between Clear Ditch and acequia. Foraging near tops, fairly active, singing, then flew to SW across acequia to adjacent cottonwood. Small, sparrow-sized, vireo body type, dark slightly hooked-at-tip bill, bold dark eyeline, whitish supercilium, then dark cap; red eye. Slightlly olive wings and upperparts with light gray- to white underparts. Song was pretty much the standard "I'm here. Up here. Where-are-you?" repeated frequently and with shorter pauses than a Plumbeous. Audio file (mp3) uploaded. Bird had been singing more frequent phrases but quieted down as I began to record (of course!). More sonorous, less blurrzy than Plumbeous Vireo.
