Observation details
FOY/*Life Bird.* Continuing juvenile-plumaged bird that has been here since Monday November 11th and has been seen by many people. First seen when driving the east/west road between Lake North/Babcock. We watched it for about 30 minutes as it move in the water along the wall, never straying more than 3-4 feet from the wall. It was feeding constantly in the flotsam there. It had a pale gray back, bold black eye stripe, short thick bill with an orange lower mandible base. Heard its call and compared it to calls on the Sibley app. In flight, its pale gray back was prominent and its white wing stripes were bolder than a Red-necked and Red-neckeds have a dark gray back compared to this bird's pale gray back.
