Observation details
Pair of kingfishers flying dozens of loops around the pond south of the rail trail, calling loudly and continuously, one following the other within 30 or 40 feet. They would fly one or two loops, settle in the trees for 15 to 30 seconds, then fly again. Eventually observed one diving from a tree branch overhanging into the water, dive was a short, shallow angle into the water, appeared to have caught something, moved back into trees out of sight.
