Observation details
A long-legged slender sandpiper. Adult in alternate plumage. Slightly smaller than nearby Lesser Yellowlegs, roughly the same size as nearby Solitary Sandpiper but appearing longer legged. Long legs looking disproportionate to the slender body; legs yellow but a shade duller than nearby yellowlegs, but paler than Solitary Sandpiper. Long, thin bill with an obvious droop to the tip. Short white supercilium. Heavily barred neck and underparts, especially the flanks. Upperparts heavily dappled black and white. White rump seen when bird briefly took flight. Foraged in deeper water up to its belly. First picture by itself; second picture with a Lesser Yellowlegs (left) and Solitary Sandpiper (back right).
