NOTES: Cover density: OPEN; Weather: WIND; [If correctly identified to species, these vocalizations appear to represent the "kia" or "kiaa-kiaa" Alarm Calls of nominate L. canus (see Figure II of Cramp et al. 1983. Handbook of the birds of Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa: the birds of the Western Palearctic. Vol. III. Oxford University Press, Oxford), these apparently given by wild birds recorded as they flew overhead. Although clearly a gull, and the visual description sounds correct, I cannot identify these calls to species with a high degree of certianty. Quality unchanged (2 - due to rumble of thunder; the calls before 0:07 better than those after this point) - CAM - 15 April 2005].
