likely adult female or first fall male; some buff on flank, and crown has only mild/moderate black compared to an adult male
Observation details
FOS this location for me; pair traveling together in same flock with CSWA; one bird had fair amount of black in crown and 2nd nearly devoid of black in crown, Seen low in scrub at very top. images. Interesting side note is I've had this species at the very top foraging across the scrub at least 3 times this time of year over the last several years. A very different habitat than the breeding habitat in GA for this species.
