Observation details
**continuing local rarity. First spotted at 9:05am. it came in low from the west, presumably where it roosted last night. It circled low over the southern half of the open space, at one point flying right overhead while I was standing in the middle crossroads. Medium-sized, long-winged, slaty-gray Buteo. Superficially like Turkey Vulture in appearance. Silver underside of flight feathers, prominent white tail band. At close range, and even at a distance in good light, the yellow cere was obvious. I lost it to the south at about 9:20 AM. It seems David Buckley saw the bird simultaneously as I did from a different vantage point: https://ebird.org/checklist/S85966659
