Observation details
Continuing in grassy field here (47.2089643, -122.0547520). Great find by Sam Terry! Thanks too to Todd in our party for relocating in the field here. Large shorebird with long decurved bill but not hugely so, so a M. At one point, it took to the air, gained considerable altitude and then started winging its way south. But then it banked, headed back towards us and landed closer to us than before near a puddle separating a short grass field from the long grass field it was initially feeding in. Soon entered the long grass field and continued foraging. Earlier, during a time it and the Yellowlegs flushed (eagle?), it circled around and called: a long drawn out ‘pppreeeerrr’ part of its song I’ve heard before on its breeding grounds.
