Observation details
The bird was structurally plump, more on balance and not as attenuated as nearby foraging WESA’s. The bill was short and straight, blunt tipped in appearance. The bird foraged by picking around a small finger of mud extending towards the center of the pond. A while later I was joined by a visiting East Coast birder, John Mittermeier. He again relocated the bird in the back of the pond foraging with WESA’s. Not too long after that, a PEFA flushed the flock and the bird did not seem to return.
