Observation details
**rare. Union 1st and personal #215. Found in the cattle pasture just before where the Brewer's Blackbird was found. Extremely well camouflaged, spotted only incidentally as I was watching a lark. Medium-sized shorebird with long neck, medium-length, straight bill with yellow base, tawny/sandy coloration, slight "teardrop" eyering. Running around in the short grass fields. It was rather skittish and flushed when a car drove by. It actually gave several liquid "pipipip" calls as it took off. Circled a bit, then flew high towards the south. Later relocated very close to the intersection with Smith Town Rd., foraging close to the road in a closer wet patch. Slowly foraged up the hill. Appears to not be afraid of cars if slow, but is skittish of humans.
