Observation details
Observed from a distance of roughly 20 m for over 15 minutes. Immediately stood out from Least Sandpipers by its black legs and much paler appearance (head and scapulars a much lighter, cold tan brown than surrounding Least Sandpipers, white supercilium much more pronounced than Least Sandpiper, underparts much more white than Least Sandpiper, bold pale barring on its scaps and ff giving it a much scalier appearance than Leasts. Stood out against surrounding Western Sandpipers by its short, relatively bill (only 70-80% the length of the Westerns' bills), dark upper scaps' edging with only a hind of rufous versus very rufous in Westerns, bold supercilium, and smaller overall size.
