Observation details
Good look. Size, bill structure and bill colors made it an easy ID. The bird was out in a flooded area of several hundred acres, a rice farm, and was about a half mile away when photographed. This is the backwater of the Black River which is in flood stage. The Swan stayed away from other waterfowl for the most part. Photos. Looking at Google Earth when I returned to my computer, it is at least 2.5 miles from where the bird was seen to the nearest farm pond. I have no way of knowing if this is a "wild" bird or someone's pet, but it's the first one I've ever seen in a wild setting.
