Observation details
*rare locally? I don't recall seeing one in Anchorage before despite 4-5 trips here in June. According to others it is a very good bird for Anchorage, although Tom Johnson had one at nearby Potter Marsh a few days later. Full adult with white chest, gray undertail and underwings, no chest band, and very long flowing tail; structure slight and tern-like. I attempted photos of it was gliding dead away, which are poor but diagnostic:
