Observation details
**rare and late; I initially must've driven right past this and only noticed it when I looped back around to photograph the Savannahs. It was feeding right on the edge of the road where some open grass poked through the snow. Many photos and identification obvious. Full white eye ring, buffy breast with only the faintest hint of blurry streaking, fairly short tail, flat head. Very bright but otherwise typical Grasshopper. Third record for park and my second following one in Oct 2013; first winter record for Suffolk County in eBird. Rick Heil let me know about at least one prior record: 15 Dec 1974 (Denny Abbott) and there may be other older winter records. Below photos with white balance adjustment:
