NOTES: (General Climate: Wet. Cover Density: Thick. Strata: Song perch. Copy Recorder: ATR-700 2 trk.) This cut contains the entire call sequence of X. spixii. It begins with an initial note, a hesitation, and then the rattle. This pattern seems to be present at each presentation. [Used mic inputs (20 db attenuation) for copy. Vari-speed used on ATR-700, 2 o'clock position.] LNS note: Curtis A. Marantz listened to this recording and says it is not X. spixii. "It pertains to what is probably a frog, possibly not an insect, but definitely not a bird!" This cut was in the database as Xiphorhynchus spixii. I changed the database. mf LNS note: HPF@240Hz when digitized. mf. Response to playback: Normal song. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Deciduous Forest, Second-growth.
