Observation details
Known location from Matt Spangler's observations. Heard distantly while listening from beaver dam, then heard and recorded at close distance from turn around point. Poor audio recording due to quality of phone recorder. Descending grunt/"oinking" calls heard at close range. Not as "dry" as king rail. Tall cat-tail marsh appropriate habitat.
