Observation details
Continuing rarity; found this morning by Gary - observed by myself, Diane, Sean, Seb, Rita, and Sylvia. Fairly lethargic for a while and had a droopy wing -- it did perk up after being fed some dried fruit. Bird itself was larger, darker, and redder than I anticipated. Coburni ssp? Audio recording is very faint (might clean up later), but vocalizations sounded very starling-like. Originally observed at bottom of steps just past Beach 2. Redwing was flushed by nearby calling bird (robin?); it flew up to the top of the stairs to a multiflora bush on the oceanside where it remained. 1 AMRO nearby. We continued on to the third beach and the redwing was still in this same location when we returned. Overall, berries are few and far between at Crystal Crescent these days; we did observe a few small patches of berries nearby, but not a lot...so not sure how long it would last.
