Observation details
Review of photos shows that this bird has the typical wing formula of a Tropical Kingbird, though at the time in the field I thought the overall structure looked better for Couch's. Just shows that good photos are needed to ID this species pair in the absence of vocal evidence. My original notes are below: Photos. Did not respond to either species' call playback. Not typical of TRKI, looked better for Couch's. Smallish bill and shortish tail with little fork. Rounder head than most TRKI. Certainly one of these two species. Worth following up if someone has time. In short Sycamores across from Millbrae intersection. Stayed in the interior portions of these sycamores rather than out on the edge or on top. Got decent perched photos, terrible ones with wings open.
