Observation details
Continuing sighting. Spotted in Shoreline Lake in the company of a large group of Common Goldeneyes. Medium-sized duck with a triangular blue/green iridescent head with steep forehead, yellow/gold eyes, a fairly short black bill, and a crescent shaped white patch directly behind the bill. The body consisted of a white chest and undersides, black back, and a series of white spots on an otherwise black wing. Distinguished from the Common Goldeneyes it was with by: (1) crescent shaped facial spot (rather than round), (2) darker sides, with clearly defined white spots on wing (rather than a mixed white / black wing), and (3) unique "angular" head shape with steep forehead (rather than a round head). See photos.
