Observation details
Viewed by a few of us flying by off the West side of the tip at exactly 0700 and found, unknown to us, at 0654 about 100m N of the tip by Willie D'anna. I first picked the bird up flying southbound down the West side of the tip at about tree top height. After watching the bird, it struck me at first to be a fairly "strong" flier as it flew directly into a south wind. As the bird flew further past the tip, it became apparent that it was actually struggling a little bit to gain ground. The size seemed medium for a warbler, but was difficult to judge. Structurally, I noted(what I perceived to be) -fairly long, somewhat round wings -weight of the body was placed slightly forward -Overall it appeared slightly long tailed, but the actual tail didn't jump out due to a somewhat tubular shape I was also also able to take notice of a few plumage features that became more apparent as the bird passed us. I perceived it to have -dark gray upperparts -white or off-white underparts -some white in the outer rects(not sure how much) -limited, low contrast yellow in the throat -no obvious wing bars Realizing the bird was clearly interesting(my first impression was that it might be an Audobon's Warbler), I took photos as it passed us. Upon consulting the photos and eachother, as well as learning of the GRWA found soon before, it became apparent that this bird was, in fact, that species.
