Observation details
!!!! first seen at 0905, flying out in front of the eastbound ferry well within King Co waters, pretty much perfectly between west point and alki point. watched it fly E out in front of the ferry for probably two minutes before it veered S and I lost it. Dark storm petrel, notched tail, long pointed wings, white rump quite obvious on this individual. Maybe it was because it had a huge boat hot on its heels, but flight seemed more erratic than my previous sightings this fall, very flappy and bounding with minimal short glides, quite a bit of side to side movement as well as (the most "nighthawk-like" I've seen LESP act). Excellent looks, and was even able to get some pretty decent photos!!! My third (!) for King Co. this fall, such a cool bird
