Observation details
The EUWI was seen in Chippewa County, on Whitefish Bay just north of the Tahquamenon River mouth. The bird was perhaps 100m off shore, seen with a raft of Bufflehead. The bird had a brick orange head (very distinctive with the setting sun at our backs and shining on the bird), forehead sloping sharply downward in distinctive wigeon style, with a creamy white stripe on the top of the head down to the bill; silver-gray flank with white wing patch. Viewed at length by 25+ Michigan Audubon Spring Fling attendees.
