Media notes
Continuing juvenile Buff-breasted Sandpiper, initially found by Nathan French on 14 October 2020, and here photographed in flight by Curtis A. Marantz on 27 October 2020 at Robb Field, San Diego, San Diego County, California.
Observation details
I concentrated on getting photos of the continuing, juvenile sandpiper, which we saw today almost exclusively in Filed #7, the westernmost baseball field and the only one located on the west side of the entrance road; however, I did see this bird disappear to the east toward the tennis courts at the end of my afternoon visit. Although it is clear from my photos that I saw this bird well today, I did not attempt to study it as carefully as I had during my previous visit on 16 October 2020, and as such it is best to refer to my description from that date. One thing that I did note today that I had not before was that this bird was heard calling on several different occasions, when it gave a relatively soft, "churk" call that I do not think I had ever before heard from this species, which it typically silent.
