Observation details
Two birds observed sporadically for over an hour. Would perch for several minutes from time to time but more usually flitting from branch to branch at height of 5-10m. Occasionally highly vocal. Calls recorded as mew-like, complaining, frequent short bursts of two note and two syllable "zhee - zhouuu". Sounded like gulls fighting but less harsh and less robust. Possibly younger bird harassing older bird for food. Both birds seen together, one at one point with feathers in bill suggesting recent kill or feed. Thick bold black eyestripe on soft grey face, width of eye only, slightly curved downwards before nape; cheeks whiter than pale grey breast, which was crossed with faint (but clear) slightly scalloped darker bars. Forward-leaning pose (although winds were brisk). Black primaries and secondaries, darker plain grey back. Longish tail edged white. Both birds appeared white rather than brown.
