Observation details
Found yesterday by Aaron Maizlish. Seems pretty tied to a portion of the canyon around mile 13.71-13.75. Not great parking here. Am open to feedback on the ID but based on several pretty good looks I’m pretty sure it’s Yellow-bellied. Photos were tough as the bird was mostly staying deep in trees and shrubs and though visible was tough to get a clear shot. The back pattern was very messy not in lines like a Red-naped. It was very buffy over all and yellowish on the belly. There was no visible red anywhere on the head. *Also apparently the fact that it is still in juvenile plumage this late in fall supports Yellow-bellied.
