Observation details
While scanning through about 8000 pips between posts #6 and #7 I re-found the melanistic Western Sandpiper was found by Kevin Zimmer on Sept 23, 2020. Kevin Zimmer " ... As for the melanistic Western Sandpiper: I’d say that it is VERY rare. I’ve never seen a melanistic shorebird of any species before, and I asked around to several of my tour guide colleagues and friends, and none of them has either... Alvaro Jaramillo commented ... that the melanistic Western was “rarer than a Ringed Plover”!
