Observation details
A very small short tailed Dove seen from just a few feet away. Orange bill with dark tip, clearly saw chestnut colored primary flight feathers when it flew a short distance. Seemed reluctant to fly from the damp ground where it had been foraging. Could easily see two rows of black dots on its wing giving a double crescent shaped wing patch. A fast walker, it reminded me of a peep. It was about the size of a Horned Lark. Returned with camera 10 minutes later and could not relocate. note: found and photographed two days later.
