Observation details
Medium-size sandpiper; similar in size and shape to Sanderling, but with longer wings, and longer and more-tapered hindsection. Down-bowed, dark brown-black bill about 1.5X head width. Medium-to-dark brown striated cap; white-buffy supercilium; medium brown face/eyestripe; buff-golden throat; collar of pale brown streaks against white extends from chest to back of neck; and creamy white breast to undertail coverts. Wing feathers chiefly medium-brown with a dark medial stripe and white edges, and wing tips uniform dark brown to black. Dark legs same color as bill. Foraging in wet and dry wrack with Sanderlings, Semi-P Plovers, Black Turnstones, and a Short-Billed Dowitcher; rested once with tucked head. Found 9/16 by Florence S; refound 9/17 by Nick L
