Observation details
Beautiful juvenile bird, well photographed. On the way up from Tie landing we checked everything and this bird was not around. We weathered the rain at the Eva River Park then headed back right after a strong belt of rain came through from the south which apparently knocked it down for us. First found well to the south of the area and out of sight of the pump station then it headed north, circled and landed on the water a few times in sight of the pump station (but far out), then headed on north and out of sight. It seemed fairly restless, never sat on the water for long and when we lost it it was gaining altitude. I doubt it stayed around for long.
